Rick Bayless will make an appearance next week atRed O, the West Hollywood restaurant he’s cited as a consultant on, dropping by on Thursday and Friday to plug a new cookbook,Frontera: Margaritas, Guacamoles and Snacks, which he’ll be offering a bite from before signing copies. The volume will be offered at the restaurant, and hopefully Bayless will stick a huarache in your mouthwithout putting his foot into his.
In other news, Mark Bittman will come to town the following week, offering a free talk titled “Behind the Scenes of What We Eat” at Chinatown’s California Endowment Center for Healthy Communities. The New YorkTimesjournalist will discuss the food choices we make. Don’t worry, he knows nothing about that entire pint of Chubby Hubby you gobbled, but is intent on exploring topics like organics, GMOs, the environmental impact of what we eat, and the treatment of farm workers, as they pertain to our choices. Hopefully, no oneshoots at him this time around.
Buying Bayless’ John Hancock is a first-come, first-serve kind of deal on November 8 and 9. Reservations for November 14th’sThe Mark Bittman Hour can be obtained online.
