Winemaking in the City: First Look at City Winery, Opening Tonight

When we heard last year thatCity Winerywas coming to Chicago, we got all kinds of excited. It was announced that the winery was planning to take over the old Louis Sullivan Carson Pirie Scott building, but we were stunned when we heard that a big box retailer would make its home there instead. We were left wondering what fate would come of City Winery. However, we can assure you that City Winery is doing just fine in its behemoth 28,000 square-foot space in the West Loop. We got a chance to go to the preview last night, and were beyond impressed with what we saw. Not only is it a functioning winery, but it acts as a music venue for both local and headlining acts,andit’s a restaurant with John Fuente of the erstwhile Spruce and Prix Fixe in the kitchen. We can’t wait to start frequenting this place and making our own wine. What do you think about the GSC (Grub Street Chi) Cuvee?
