Looks like those50-cent dogsweren’t the best business plan:Gray’s Papayahas quietly shuttered its Hell’s Kitchen location owing to what Eater hears is a “rent issue,” meaning the area is losing notone, buttwoNew York institutions (and don’t forget theclosing of Hickey’snearby). And now we add it to thepapaya graveyard. It’s horrible news, but probably a lifesaver for those of us who couldn’t decide between a Papaya dog or a White Castle (and always ended up getting both) when traversing the fast-food wonderland that is Eighth Avenue between 37th and 38th Streets.
