[Eater] Midtown East: If a Reuben is as close as you want to get to corned beef and cabbage on Monday, you can find a good one at Patrick Conway’s on East 43rd Street. [Gridskipper] Midwood: This photomontage follows the making of a Di Fara pie; though Domenico’s secret weapon might be revealed by the article’s last line: “And then he’s off to the back room for a shot of grappa (I think that’s what it was), and it’s back to making pies.” [Epi-Log/Epicurious]

The Orange Line
骑B线:像您不相信的BaklavaSomewhere in the world there may be a train line that covers more gastronomic territory than the B and V subway lines, which start in southernmost Brooklyn and end deep in Queens, but if there is, we don’t know about it. For the next twenty-odd weeks, we’ll be riding the B and V from Coney Island all the way to Forest Hills, jumping off frequently to rave about our favorite restaurants and food stores near the subway. This week: Kings Highway

Schnitzel Bar Brings Righteous Chicken to MidwoodWe discovered Schnitzi’s Schnitzel Bar on a desolate stretch of Coney Island Avenue in Midwood, Brooklyn, recently, and were amazed that it took us as many weeks as it did. (It’s been open for two months.) Coney Island Avenue is not an easy place in which to hide a big, modern, state-of-the-art schnitzel restaurant; it’s mostly filled with garages, Indo-Pak kebab restaurants, Judaica stores, and halal butchers. Imagine our surprise when we saw that the place, which seems to have sprung up overnight, was turning out some of the tastiest and freshest chicken-cutlet sandwiches in town.
